I sweat BaT as I know a lot of you do. I have alerts setup for certain cars, and I normally breeze through the whole list once a day. Every once in a while I miss a cool one until the last day.

Kinja'd!!!

This is super cool. I have no clue what the market is for something like this and all the action is in the last few minutes. Let’s assume it sells for $30k. For your $30k would you rather this, or an S2000?

S2000. I have my reasons.

S2000. The Corolla chassis is largely not very good.

Man I love the hachi look, everything is simple and functional with that sweet 80s taste to everything; even bought an S12 simply because it looked like one! But I think for $30k USD, one is a car to show off and the other is a real car (i.e. S2000).

Those mods to that Toyota is simply too much for that chassis. Awesome and street cred = yes. Actually drivable and fast around a track = no. Just look at the size of those wheels, far too skinny for any actual real driving from it. Mix that with a 30 year old chassis, no amount of suspension upgrades will help with that additonal power.

Actually yes I’d still buy the hachi :) Although nowdays, I’d rather buy a Celica GT-Four or MR2.

The Corolla GT-S is one of the few “car guy cars” that I have not even had a go as co-pilot, good to know.

If I spend 30 thousand US dollars on either of those you have my permission to come to my home and kick me directly in the dingle.

...but speaking hypothetically I’d be forced to go with the Corolla, largely because I don't fit in the S2k. Thanks again for that Honda.

Corolla, Hands down.

No offense to the S2k, but I found it boring to drive. The Corolla is a riot when pushed to the limit, it would be an absolute blast with almost 4x the stock power.

Call me a purist, but I’d rather it have a 4AGE anyway.

If that rolla was a liftback I’d have to pick it. But being a Coupe I’ll just take the convertible instead. If my car is going to have less cargo space I neighbor as well be able to drop the top

Ehh... it’s not too surprising. It’s an 80's chassis, so it’s not the world’s stiffest in terms of rigidity.

But it also has a humdrum macpherson strut in the front with pretty limited adjustability stock and a 4 link with pan-hard bar and solid axle in the rear with struts and coil springs. You can make the rear work - it just takes money and plenty have done it. But it’s not special stock and there are better starting points.

The AE86 is light at least, but the Miata has a much better suspension setup (for example). The suspension geometry on the S2000 is worlds better and the chassis has already proven itself in a bunch of ameteur racing.

I wouldn’t spend that kind of money on either; between the two though it would depend if I wanted “a cool car to have” or something to drive like a regular car.
